From the GARBC PrayerLink:
On Saturday, April 30, a fire broke out at the Church Ministries Institute (CMI) building in Odessa, Ukraine, causing severe damage to the structure. (CMI is a ministry training school sponsored by the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism.)
Three of the first floor offices were severely damaged. The floor to the first two of those offices collapsed into the basement. The team is thankful to the Lord that no one was injured in the explosion.
- Pray for the national leaders who are legally responsible for the CMI building and who must now give account before the authorities. Ask God to bring about a swift resolution and to give the leaders wisdom in how to handle the inspectors’ questions.
- Pray for CMI president John Taylor and the CMI staff, many of whom lost personal belongings.
- Pray for the financial needs arising from this loss of facilities, equipment, and supplies.
Arrangements have already been made for the students to complete the remainder of the CMI school year at another location.
